Guns N' Roses Live in Guwahati
November 17, 2026
Guwahati is not a concert city. That is precisely why this matters.
When the announcement came through, November 17, Guwahati, the obvious question was why here. Guns N' Roses played Mumbai last year. They could have come back to Bengaluru or Delhi. Instead they have chosen a city of two million on the south bank of the Brahmaputra, at the edge of a region that most of India has never been to. We think that choice is worth something.
We run journeys through Northeast India and we are based in Bengaluru. When the concert was announced, our thought was straightforward: a lot of people with tickets to that show are going to fly into Guwahati, see it, and leave on the morning of the 18th. That is a reasonable thing to do if you do not know what is on the other side of the city.
Guwahati is the gateway. Four hours east on NH37 is Kaziranga National Park. November is a good month to go: the monsoon has pulled back, the animals are on the plains, and the jeep safaris that leave before dawn from the Kohora range give you a real chance at one-horned rhinos at close range. Two-thirds of the world population of that animal lives in this one park. You will see them. You may also see elephants moving through the grassland at first light, and if you are patient and your driver knows the ground, sometimes a tiger.
If wildlife is not your thing, go the other way. Guwahati to Shillong is three hours southwest through the Meghalaya hills. Shillong is a proper hill station in the old sense: cool air, old architecture, a rhythm the city has not lost. From Shillong, Cherrapunji is an hour further. The waterfalls are still running strong in November, the valleys are clear, and Dawki, where the Umngot river runs so transparent the boats appear to float above the riverbed, is two hours beyond that.
Guwahati itself is worth a day before the concert. Kamakhya Temple sits on a hill to the west of the city. Go before seven in the morning and you can be there before the crowds arrive. The Brahmaputra river ghats are a good place to spend an hour in the evening. The river at this time of year, past the monsoon, goes quiet in the way a wide river gets quiet: not small, just settled.
November is a good month to be here. Stay longer than you planned.
