Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival
November 20–21, 2026
Every November, the wild Himalayan cherry trees around Shillong flower pink, and the city holds a festival for them: two days of music, food and stalls at the Highland Grounds in New Shillong, about 30 minutes from the city.
In 2026 the festival runs on November 20 and 21. The schedule, line-up and venue are run by the organisers and can change, so check their announcements before you book flights.
November is a good month for the rest of Meghalaya too. The monsoon is over, the roads are dry, the waterfalls around Sohra still carry water, and the Umngot river at Dawki is clear.
We run a group trip around the festival: 19 to 25 November, Guwahati to Guwahati, with both festival days in Shillong and transfers to the grounds and back, then Laitlum Canyons, Sohra, the Double Decker root bridge, Dawki and Mawlynnong.
Worth knowing
Festival week is Shillong's busiest week of the year. Rooms in town fill early, so book your stay before you book your tickets.
