About This Journey

Journey Overview

Six days, five districts, one river that ties everything together — the Assam Heritage & Wildlife package is the most complete Assam wildlife tour package ClearEast Trip offers, and it begins with your pickup from Guwahati Airport. A Brahmaputra sunset cruise on day one gives you the city's skyline and the scale of this great river before you leave it for the grasslands. Day two takes you deep into Kaziranga National Park, where the world's largest population of Indian one-horned rhinos roams UNESCO-listed floodplains — a Western Zone jeep safari in the afternoon sets the tone, and a pre-dawn elephant safari on day three delivers something no road vehicle can: eye-level silence in the reed beds while rhinos graze at arm's reach. This one-horned rhino safari Kaziranga experience alone justifies the journey from Bengaluru. Day four pivots from the wild to the ancient — Sivasagar, capital of the Ahom Kingdom for nearly six centuries, where Rang Ghar (an 18th-century royal amphitheatre unlike anything else in South Asia) and the triple-temple Sivasagar Tank anchor an afternoon of living archaeology. Day five crosses the Brahmaputra to Majuli island, where Vaishnava monks have practised Sattriya mask dance and devotional music since the 15th century. Return from Jorhat. Prices from ₹23,500 per person.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Kaziranga National Park open, and does the trip operate year-round?

Kaziranga National Park is open from November to April only. The park shuts each May as the Brahmaputra monsoon floods the grasslands. The Assam Heritage & Wildlife package therefore operates between November and April. We recommend November to February for the best combination of cool weather, clear skies, and peak wildlife activity. March and April are warm but still excellent for safaris.

What animals will I see at Kaziranga on this trip?

Kaziranga is home to the world's largest concentration of Indian one-horned rhinos — over 2,600 animals across four safari zones. On this package you safari in the Western Zone by jeep for close-range rhino sightings in open grassland, and in the Central Zone where tiger and leopard encounters are also possible. The elephant safari on day three is particularly intimate. Wild water buffalo, swamp deer, Asian elephants, and 480-plus bird species complete the picture.

What is Rang Ghar, and why is it worth visiting?

Rang Ghar in Sivasagar is an 18th-century oval amphitheatre built by the Ahom king Pramatta Singha — one of the oldest surviving amphitheatres in Asia, used for royal sports during the Ahom New Year. It stands alongside Talatal Ghar, a seven-storey palace with three underground floors and secret escape tunnels, and the Sivasagar Tank ringed by three Ahom temples. Together they form the most significant concentration of Ahom Kingdom heritage in Assam.

How does the Majuli island visit work on this itinerary?

On day five your private vehicle takes you from Jorhat to Nimati Ghat (about 14 km), where you board a government ferry across the Brahmaputra to Majuli — a crossing of roughly 1 to 1.5 hours. The package includes both the onward and return ferry tickets. On Majuli you stay overnight in an eco bamboo cottage or cultural homestay near the Satras. Day six begins with sunrise birdwatching before you catch the morning ferry back to Jorhat.

What is included in the Assam Heritage & Wildlife package, and what does it cost?

The 5-night, 6-day package covers all accommodation, daily breakfast and dinner, private AC vehicle transfers throughout, Brahmaputra sunset cruise, jeep safaris in Kaziranga's Western and Central Zones, an elephant safari (subject to availability), the guided heritage tour of Sivasagar and Rang Ghar, Satra visits on Majuli with a cultural guide, and ferry tickets both ways. Pricing starts at ₹23,500 per person for a group of six, ₹28,500 for four, and ₹36,500 for two. Kaziranga park entry fees and lunches are excluded.

Important to Know

  • ·Kaziranga National Park is open November to April; it closes during the monsoon (May–October) due to Brahmaputra flooding.
  • ·Elephant safari slots are limited — request these early at the time of booking.
  • ·Majuli accommodation is rustic — bamboo cottages and homestays with basic amenities. Hot water, electricity, and Wi-Fi may be intermittent. This is part of the authentic Majuli experience.
  • ·Ferry schedules at Nimati Ghat depend on river conditions. On Day 6, plan Jorhat flights or trains after 1:00 PM.
  • ·Pick-up from Guwahati Airport (GAU). Drop-off at Jorhat Airport (JRH) or Jorhat Railway Station. Return to Guwahati for the flight can be arranged at additional cost.
