About This Journey

Journey Overview

Two of the Eastern Himalayas' most iconic destinations in one seamless 4 nights, 5 days Darjeeling Sikkim tour package — and it works better than you'd expect. You fly into Bagdogra Airport or arrive at NJP Railway Station, and from there the journey moves at the pace of the mountains themselves. The first three days are Sikkim's — Gangtok's monasteries and viewpoints, then the high-altitude stillness of Tsomgo Lake at 12,400 feet, and if permits align, the drama of Nathula Pass at 14,140 feet on the India–China border. On day four, you drop down through the Teesta valley and climb back up into Darjeeling — the air changes, the architecture changes, the entire mood shifts. Day five is an early alarm and a reward: Tiger Hill at dawn for Kanchenjunga lit orange by the rising sun, then the colonial-era Batasia Loop, Ghoom Monastery, and a walk through a working tea garden. Starting from ₹13,500 per person, this Darjeeling Sikkim itinerary for 5 days covers more ground than most week-long holidays.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 5 days enough for Darjeeling and Sikkim together?

Five days — or 4 nights — is the minimum that does both destinations justice without feeling like you are sprinting. You get two full days in Sikkim covering Gangtok and Tsomgo Lake, one transfer day that doubles as a scenic drive through the Teesta valley, and one packed day in Darjeeling with Tiger Hill, Batasia Loop, Ghoom Monastery, and a tea garden visit. If you want to slow down or add North Sikkim, consider a longer itinerary.

What is the best time to visit Darjeeling and Sikkim?

October to mid-December and March to May are the best months for a combined Darjeeling Sikkim trip. Post-monsoon offers crystal-clear Kanchenjunga views from Tiger Hill and reliable access to Tsomgo Lake. Spring is warm, the tea gardens are flushing their first flush, and rhododendrons are in bloom. Avoid July and August when both hill regions experience heavy rainfall and frequent road closures.

Do I need permits for Darjeeling and Sikkim?

Indian nationals do not need an Inner Line Permit for Gangtok or Darjeeling. For Tsomgo Lake and Nathula Pass in Sikkim, a Protected Area Permit is required — your operator arranges this, and you need a valid government photo ID. Nathula Pass is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. No separate permit is needed for standard Darjeeling sightseeing including Tiger Hill, Batasia Loop, and Ghoom Monastery.

What is included in the Darjeeling Sikkim Highlights package?

The 4N/5D package includes 4 nights of accommodation — 3 nights in Gangtok and 1 night in Darjeeling — with daily breakfast, pickup and drop from Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station, all intercity transfers, and local sightseeing transportation with experienced local drivers including fuel, toll, and parking. Not included are airfare or train tickets, Nathula Pass permit fees, monument entry tickets, toy train or ropeway charges, and personal expenses.

How much does the Darjeeling Sikkim group tour cost?

The Darjeeling Sikkim Highlights 4N/5D package starts from ₹13,500 per person for a group of six, ₹17,100 per person for a group of four, and ₹19,320 per person for two travellers. All prices include accommodation, daily breakfast, and all transfers and sightseeing. Nathula Pass visit, entry fees, and personal expenses are additional. The per-person cost drops significantly with a larger group.

Important to Know

  • ·Nathula Pass visit depends on permit availability and weather conditions
  • ·Nathula Pass remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
  • ·Guests must carry a valid government ID for permits
  • ·Day 5 is a full day — this structure suits evening flights (6pm+) only. Morning departures should upgrade to the 6N/7D Grand Experience which includes a Siliguri buffer night
  • ·Darjeeling traffic is unpredictable — departure timing will be planned with buffer
  • ·Travel in hill regions is subject to weather and road conditions
