About This Journey
Journey Overview
Your Meghalaya tour package begins the moment you step out of Guwahati Airport — a private vehicle whisks you along NH-6, past the glittering expanse of Umiam Lake, and into the cool, cloud-laced highlands of Shillong. Over five nights and six days, you move through a landscape that earns every superlative thrown at it. In Shillong, Ward's Lake and the Don Bosco Museum anchor a morning before Elephant Falls and the city's live-music cafes fill the evening. The Cherrapunji trip itinerary that follows delivers India's highest plunge waterfall — Nohkalikai, crashing 340 metres into a jade pool — Seven Sisters Falls, and the limestone labyrinths of Mawsmai Cave. Day four is the emotional centrepiece: Mawlynnong, Asia's cleanest village, where bamboo-paved lanes and a treetop skywalk precede a short walk to the 300-year-old Riwai root bridge. Then comes Dawki, where a boat ride on the Umngot River — one of India's clearest rivers — suspends you over a sandy riverbed so pristine the hull seems to float on air. Pickup from Guwahati. Priced from ₹22,500 per person.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to visit Meghalaya?
October to May is ideal for this Meghalaya tour package — skies are clear, waterfalls still run strong from stored monsoon water, and roads are safe. November to February brings crisp, cool days perfect for sightseeing and photography. June to September is monsoon season: Cherrapunji becomes dramatically lush and the falls are at full thunder, but heavy persistent rain can disrupt road travel and make trails slippery.
How do I reach Meghalaya, and where is the pickup point?
Your pickup is from Guwahati Airport (GAU) or Guwahati Railway Station. From there, it is approximately 118 km to Shillong via NH-6, a scenic drive of around three to three-and-a-half hours with a stop at Umiam Lake along the way. Guwahati is well connected to all major Indian cities by air and train, making it the natural gateway. No additional transport booking is needed on your end — the private vehicle is included from day one.
Is the living root bridge trek in this package, and how difficult is it?
This 5-night package includes the Riwai Living Root Bridge near Mawlynnong — a single-decker, 300-year-old bridge grown from Ficus elastica roots, reached by a gentle 2 km walk from the village. It is suitable for most fitness levels. The more demanding Double Decker Living Root Bridge trek at Nongriat — involving roughly 3,500 steep stone steps — is part of the Complete Meghalaya (6N/7D) package instead.
What is the experience at Dawki and the Umngot River?
Dawki sits on the India–Bangladesh border where the Umngot River flows with extraordinary clarity — it is consistently ranked among India's cleanest rivers. A boat ride here is unlike anything else: the water is so transparent that your boat appears to hover in mid-air above the visible sandy riverbed below. The effect is best between October and April, before monsoon sediment clouds the water. A Dawki boat ride is included in this package.
What does the price include, and are there any permits required?
Pricing starts from ₹22,500 per person (group of 6) and includes five nights of accommodation with breakfast, Guwahati airport pickup and drop-off, all transfers and sightseeing by private vehicle, and a Dawki boat ride. Flights, lunches, dinners, and monument entry fees are not included. No special Inner Line Permit is required for Indian nationals visiting Meghalaya. Your ClearEast coordinator remains on call throughout the trip.
Important to Know
- ·Cherrapunji receives heavy rainfall June–September; carry waterproof gear and expect lush but slippery trails.
- ·The Mawlynnong–Dawki–Cherrapunji day (Day 4) is long (~10–12 hrs on road); an early 6:30 AM start is recommended.
- ·Best time to visit: October to May for clear skies; June–September for dramatic waterfall flows.
