About This Journey
Journey Overview
This is what a proper Sikkim itinerary looks like — not just Gangtok and Tsomgo, but the full vertical climb into North Sikkim. Over 6 nights and 7 days, the Sikkim Complete Experience tour package takes you from the well-worn pleasures of Gangtok's MG Marg all the way up to Gurudongmar Lake at 17,800 feet — one of the highest lakes in the world, still and sacred at an altitude that makes most people slow down and breathe. You pick up at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station and head to Lachen on Day 2, stopping at Seven Sisters Waterfalls and the Chungthang river confluence. Day 3 begins before sunrise — the drive to Gurudongmar is cold, quiet, and worth every minute. Then it's Lachung and Yumthang Valley spread wide at 11,800 feet with seasonal blooms. Zero Point pushes even higher if conditions allow. The descent brings you back to Gangtok for a final East Sikkim day at Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. North Sikkim permits are included. Priced from ₹19,000 per person, this group trip North Sikkim is the one you plan once and remember for a long time.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Gurudongmar Lake and why is it special?
Gurudongmar Lake sits at 17,800 feet in North Sikkim, making it one of the highest lakes in the world and the highest in India accessible by road. The lake holds religious significance for both Buddhists and Hindus. You visit on an early morning excursion from Lachen — the drive alone, through high-altitude terrain at dawn, is extraordinary. Altitude sickness is a real consideration; acclimatisation in Gangtok before heading north is built into the itinerary.
Are North Sikkim permits arranged by ClearEast Trip?
Yes, North Sikkim permits are included and arranged by ClearEast Trip. Indian citizens require an Inner Line Permit to travel to Lachen and Lachung. Foreign nationals are not permitted in most of North Sikkim. All guests must carry a valid government-issued photo ID — Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, or Voter ID — for the permit process. Nathula Pass permits, if attempted on Day 6, carry separate additional charges.
What type of vehicles are used for North Sikkim?
SUVs are mandatory for all North Sikkim sectors — sedans are not permitted on these mountain roads by local regulations. The package includes well-maintained SUVs with experienced local drivers familiar with high-altitude routes. Vehicle selection is planned based on your group size. ClearEast Trip does not mix different group bookings in the same vehicle, so your travel experience remains private throughout.
Is there mobile network connectivity in Lachen and Lachung?
Mobile connectivity in Lachen and Lachung is limited to absent for most networks. BSNL may have faint signal in some spots, but do not rely on internet or calls during your nights in North Sikkim. It is a good idea to inform family and friends of your itinerary before departing Gangtok on Day 2, and to download offline maps in advance. Your driver remains reachable through local communication channels.
What meals are included in the Sikkim Complete package?
In Gangtok, daily breakfast is provided at the hotel. In Lachen and Lachung, both breakfast and dinner are included — which matters given how remote these villages are and how limited outside dining options can be. Lunch is not included on any day. Entry tickets, yak rides, ropeway, Zero Point charges, and Nathula Pass permit fees are excluded from the package price.
Important to Know
- ·North Sikkim requires a minimum 3-night structure (Lachen 1N, Lachung 2N) — shorter durations create unsafe drive schedules
- ·SUV mandatory for all North Sikkim sectors — sedans are not permitted
- ·Nathula Pass visit depends on permit availability and weather conditions
- ·Nathula Pass remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
- ·Zero Point visit depends on weather and road conditions — additional charges apply
- ·Guests must carry a valid government ID for all permits
- ·North Sikkim (Lachen & Lachung) has limited to no mobile connectivity
- ·Day 5 (Lachung → Gangtok) and Day 6 (Tsomgo excursion) are both drive-heavy — we pace both days carefully to avoid fatigue
- ·Travel in hill regions is subject to weather, landslides, and army advisories — plans may be adjusted for safety
